Four tips to create more energy

How can I improve my energy?

This is a question I am often asked and usually it is because a person has reached a state of exhaustion and stress that they can no longer sustain and they realise that they have to do something about their situation or their overall health and well-being will take a turn for the worse.

It is at those times when we are extremely stressed that it is all too easy to let slip those things that we really need to be mindful of in order for us to get through difficult times, and none more so when we feel depleted or stressed.

There are some practical things you can do to give you that all important boost so you can not only get through your busy days, but you can continue to set healthy habits that will sustain your personal well-being and resilience.

My top 4 tips for energy management include:

  1. Breath of fresh air – a well-known concept to relieve symptoms of stress, but rarely do we take the time to really stop and take notice. Slow, deep breathing is an effective way to reverse the symptoms of the ‘flight-fight-and-freeze’ response. Deep breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system and puts the ‘brake’ on allowing your body to reverse stress and anxiety.
  1. The chatter that matters – did you know that over a single day you can have around sixteen thousand thoughts and often these are negative or self-defeating? When we focus on our fears, doubts, regrets and uncertainties we become hooked on our negative thoughts. One way to break this cycle is to pay attention to your thoughts. As you go about your day try to drop in and tune in on your thoughts and create space between recurring thoughts.
  1. Hydrating – and I don’t just mean water! This is a strategy that will help you to re-connect with family, friends and your extended tribe. We need each other to survive and to thrive as a community. Consider those people in your life that give you a positive boost – these are the people you need to spend your precious time and energy with, for they invariably hydrate your emotions.
  1. Rippling movement – or how can I fully harness my energy? This strategy is about increasing your awareness and response towards external frequencies that can impact upon your energy. Rippling around you are the frequencies of your external environment such as solar energy (the sun), seasonal shifts and nature’s cycles. Being aware of these vibrations can help you to support your energy and to keep mood and spirits high. In the cooler seasons boost Vitamin D and sunlight, walk in nature. Be aware of the messages your body is sending you and respond with support in the form of simple nurturing strategies.

My new book More Energy, More You! explains these strategies and over 70 more, all designed to help you to improve your emotional, spiritual, physical and mental aspects of your personal energy, so that you can show up as the best version of you!
